Alumni Satisfaction with Education

One important measure of educational quality and effectiveness is how
alumni express their satisfaction. In several recent studies, independent
college and university alumni indicated greater satisfaction with their
undergraduate education than did public university graduates. The overwhelming
majority of independent college graduates reported that their education
was worth its cost, and that their student loans were a worthwhile investment.
Moreover, independent college graduates demonstrate their greater satisfaction
with a greater degree of volunteer involvement with and financial support
for their undergraduate institutions.
- Quality Education
Independent college alumni are more likely to state complete
satisfaction, to rate their undergraduate experience as excellent, and
to express belief in the high quality of their type of undergraduate
education than their publicly educated peers.
- Worthwhile Investment
Independent college graduates say that their education was
worth the money – and consider their student loans a good investment.
- Support for Colleges and Universities
Independent college alumni are more likely to show support
for their undergraduate college or university through volunteer activities
or financial contributions than their publicly educated peers.
